About this role
Mercy Hospital Southeast in Cape Girardeau, MO is seeking a Nuclear Medicine Technologist for a travel assignment. This is a day shift position working 5x8 schedules with 36 weekly guaranteed hours. The assignment runs for 140 days, starting September 21, 2026. You will earn $2,171 per week.
Requirements:
- Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologist - Nuclear (RT-N) certification
- Bachelor's degree with graduation from a formal Nuclear Medicine training program
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Nuclear Med Tech in a hospital-based setting
- BLS certification from AHA
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform quality control on all nuclear cameras before imaging patients
- Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals for exams in accordance with procedure manual
- Receive, store, and dispose of radioactive materials following NRC regulations
- Perform radiation detection surveys and wipes; decontaminate as appropriate
- Operate oxygen, suction, blood pressure, IV pump, and other essential patient care equipment
- Observe patients before, during, and after procedures and utilize appropriate mobilization devices
- Safely transfer patients to/from stretchers, wheelchairs, and imaging tables
- Review orders for appropriate diagnosis and schedule patient and department resources
- Perform all procedures according to protocol as stated in procedure manual
- Present completed procedures to radiologist/physician for interpretation
- Document information in electronic Nuclear Medicine Information System and perform computer processing of data
- Demonstrate proficiency in producing diagnostic images with ability to recognize technical abnormalities
- Practice proper radiation safety following ALARA principles
You will work a fair share of on-call and weekend shifts with expected arrival within 30 minutes of call-in. The facility uses Epic EMR and requires black scrubs. Flexibility to work in any area or adjust scheduled hours as needed is expected.
