ICU Registered Nurse Job in Boone, NC

Watauga Medical Center is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for its Intensive Care Unit. You will work three 12-hour night shifts per month from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, with two weekends per month required.

Role and Responsibilities

Your home unit is the standard ICU where you will care for critically ill patients. You must be prepared to float to Intermediate Care and Med-Surg units based on patient volume. In the ICU, you will maintain a 1:2 patient ratio, though ratios may vary when floating to other units. You will be expected to care for pediatric patients when assigned to your unit, as they are not redirected elsewhere.

Required Experience and Certifications

• 2 years of ICU nursing experience
• EPIC electronic health record proficiency
• Current BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and PALS certifications (all AHA certified)
• North Carolina license or active Multistate license
• Valid driver's license for address verification

Clinical Skills

You will manage ventilated patients, including ventilator management and weaning protocols. Additional competencies include central line management, titration of vasoactive drips, interpretation of arterial blood gases, and recognition and management of cardiac dysrhythmias.

Assignment Details

This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning July 6, 2026. You will earn $2,203.20 per week. You must reside more than 40 miles from the facility. All white or all navy scrubs are required. Willingness to float to other units as clinical need dictates is essential to this role.
