About this role
You will work as an RN in a Telemetry float pool position covering Zone 4 within a 60-mile radius of Garden City, Kansas. This is a night shift role, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, on a 3x12 schedule with 6–9 weekend shifts required per 6-week rotation.
Assignment Details
- Float pool covering three facilities: Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital (Ulysses, KS), St. Catherine – Dodge City (Dodge City, KS), and St. Catherine – Garden City (Garden City, KS)
- No home base facility; schedules may assign a single facility for the week or provide just-in-time assignment 1–2 hours before shift start
- You are responsible for obtaining housing that makes floating throughout the full zone feasible
- Schedules made by leadership 4–6 weeks in advance; all time off requests must be submitted prior to starting
- May be asked to float into any acuity level including ICU (low acuity holds), PCU/Stepdown, and MS-Tele
- Units covered include General MS-Tele and various specialties: Cardiac, Neuro, Oncology, Rehab, Renal, Bariatrics, Ortho, Trauma, and ED Observation
Clinical Responsibilities
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5–6 based on acuity
- Nurse aides available on units; designated charge nurse on each unit typically does not take a patient assignment
- Required to titrate Heparin drips
- Respiratory therapy equipment including vents, CPAP, and BiPAP present on units
- Charting system: EPIC; Alaris experience preferred
- Patient population includes adults and geriatrics with cardiac, neuro, ortho, oncology, renal, urology post-surgical, general surgery, gynecology, psych/detox, ENT, and general medicine diagnoses
Requirements
- 2 years of MS-Tele experience in the last 3 years (required)
- Prior neuro experience preferred
- BSN not required
- ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NIHSS certifications required
Additional Terms
- May be asked to participate in holiday rotation
- Rare on-call or standby requirement for low census situations
- Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment or 3 shifts for assignments less than 13 weeks
- Expected to be flexible and help fill gaps in permanent scheduling
