Med Surg RN Job in Wausau, WI

Aspirus Wausau Hospital is seeking a registered nurse for its 40-bed Post Surgical Care Unit. You will provide direct care to pre- and post-surgical adults and geriatric patients in a fast-paced environment averaging 10–15 admissions per day with 90–95% occupancy during the week.

Position Details

• Shift: 3×12 nights (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
• Contract length: 91 days
• Start date: July 20, 2026
• Weekly pay: $2,377.08

Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5 to 1:7 on night shifts
• Float to all inpatient units as needed
• Work every other weekend and holiday rotation
• Manage 12-hour shifts with guaranteed 48 hours per week; overtime billable after 48 hours
• Utilize Epic EMR, Rovers for medication scanning, and Alaris infusion pumps

Requirements

• Valid Wisconsin RN license and current BLS certification (AHA or ARC)
• Minimum 2+ years of Med Surg experience with recent hospital experience
• Trauma Level II experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Associate degree or certificate required; bachelor's degree preferred
• Ability to multitask, prioritize patient care by acuity, and work collaboratively

Additional Information

The contract is eligible for 36 hours of low census unbillable hours, which can be applied in hour increments as needed. Average patient length of stay is 2–3 days. Any color scrubs are permitted.
