Med-Surg RN Job in Omaha, NE

You'll work as a Registered Nurse on the 4th Floor North & South Medical Telemetry/Orthopedic unit at CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center - Bergan Mercy in Omaha, Nebraska. This is a 91-day travel assignment with a start date of May 11, 2026.

Shift and Schedule

• 3 twelve-hour night shifts per week from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
• Weekly pay: $2,338.92
• Weekend coverage typically every other weekend, with additional coverage as needed
• Holiday requirements: 2–3 holidays between Thanksgiving and New Year's

Your Role

You will care for a 55-bed unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5–6. Your patients include those recovering from joint replacements, fractures, colon resections, and prostatectomy, as well as those managing orthopedic trauma, COPD exacerbation, GI bleeds, pneumonia, sepsis, cellulitis, and failure to thrive. You'll titrate heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine drips, manage PCA pumps, and maintain telemetry awareness with basic strip reading skills. You'll focus on hourly rounding, responsiveness, and managing multiple discharges and admissions daily.

Requirements and Skills

• BLS (AHA) required; ACLS preferred
• Telemetry awareness and basic ECG strip reading
• Proficiency with EPIC charting system
• Pass an open-book skills exam on Friday during orientation with a 90% score to continue
• Two days of unit-specific orientation provided
• Must serve a diverse patient population including Spanish, Karen, and Burmese-speaking patients

Facility Policies

• Navy blue scrubs required for RNs
• Artificial nails prohibited; refusal to remove results in contract termination
• May float to other medical-surgical areas or units with med-surg patients
• Must live outside a 50-mile radius and cannot be employed with CommonSpirit facilities
