PACU RN Job in Hilo, Hawaii

You will provide direct patient care in the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) at Hilo Medical Center, supporting patients through pre-operative, Phase I, and Phase II recovery. Your role includes assessing incision sites, monitoring body temperature, tracking vital indicators, and identifying early signs of complications or instability.

Shift Details

• Rotating shifts between 8, 10, and 12 hours
• Days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
• Shifts may rotate between ASU and PACU units
• On-call duties 0–3 times per month, including 8-hour night shifts and 24-hour weekend or holiday on-call assignments
• No guarantee of hours or shift preference

Qualifications and Experience

• Current RN license active in Hawaii by assignment start date
• Valid BLS and ACLS certification from the American Heart Association
• PALS credential from the American Heart Association is recommended and may be required
• 2+ years of critical care experience as an RN in a hospital setting (ER or ICU may substitute for direct PACU experience)
• Specialty certifications preferred and may be required (NIHSS, TNCC, or related credentials)

Key Responsibilities

• Apply advanced knowledge of anesthesiology and Phase I recovery care
• Utilize critical care skills to monitor and support post-surgical patients
• Operate equipment including Meditech, PCA Pumps, Pyxis, Braun IV Pumps, Cryocuff, SCDs, Bair PAWS Warmers, HP Monitors, and Phillips Monitors
