NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care

Opportunity:

RN - NICU

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts in the NICU
• Every other weekend required; holidays required as needed
• No on-call requirements
• Scheduling managed by manager or scheduler; no self-scheduling
• Must have a minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in a Level III-IV NICU
• Level 4 NICU experience required; Level 1 or 2 NICU experience will not be considered
• At least one prior travel assignment required
• NCC Neonatal ICU RN certification preferred
• Required certifications: NRP, BLS
• Patient ratios: 1:1 to 1:3/4 based on acuity
• Ancillary support includes 1-2 PCTs per shift; Advanced Practice present on unit
• Floating is required within the ICU cluster (NICU, PICU, and Burn); travelers are first to float
• EMR system is EPIC; EPIC experience is required
• Medication system is Pyxis
• Facility dress code must be followed
• 2-3 days of orientation and specialty testing expected upon start
• Must pass fit test (no facial hair unless for religious beliefs)
• Must test negative for nicotine
• Patient population includes 23-week micro-premies, VLBW, complications of prematurity, general surgeries, chronic lung, bleeds, spina bifida, diaphragmatic hernia, NEC perforation, gastroenterological conditions, cleft lip/palate/mandible, PDA ligations, and body cooling
• Average patient length of stay is 40 days
• Equipment includes GE, Servo, Kangaroo Care, ECMO, Nitric Oxide, HFOV, Jet Vent (occasional), and IMV
• Respiratory and Anesthesia available for support; RTs manage ventilators
