Opportunity:

RN - PICU

Job Details:

• Night shift position with 12-hour shifts starting at 7:00 PM
• Every other weekend requirement
• Holiday requirement: 2 out of 3 holidays
• First to float to general pediatrics, burn unit (non-burn care of pediatric patients), and NICU
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• 8-bed unit with an average census of 2
• Charge nurse responsibilities rarely required
• No nurse aides on unit
• Floor-specific orientation includes 2 shifts in PICU, 1 shift in general pediatrics, and 1 shift in burn unit
• Charting system: Cerner EMR
• Telemetry: Spacelab monitors - nurses must read own strips
• Ventilator experience required - vent types include CPAP, Ramcan, BiPAP, and HFNC
• Must be proficient with Medfusion pumps
• Common diagnoses include respiratory failure, dehydration, seizures, suicide attempts, overdoses, poisoning, ventilator management, and diabetic ketoacidosis
• Common drips include insulin, sedative agents, heparin, vasopressin, norepinephrine, epinephrine, and electrolyte replacements
• Scrub color: Navy Blue
• Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required
• No first-time travelers considered
• Required certifications: BLS and PALS
• California nursing license required
• If census is low, may be asked to be on standby
