Med Surg RN Job in Decatur, TX

Join Medical City Decatur as a Med Surg RN on our 4th and 5th floor medical surgical units. This is a 91-day travel assignment starting March 16, 2026, working three 12-hour night shifts per week (7 p.m. to 7 a.m.) at $1,708.20 weekly.

Role Overview

You will care for patients across 60 total beds with patient ratios of 5:1 on the Med Surg Specialty 4th Floor and 6:1 on the Med Surg 5th Floor. Your team includes a charge nurse per floor, RNs, LVNs, and PCTs on the night shift.

Clinical Responsibilities

You will manage patients post-procedure and post-operative recovery, including:

• Abdominal surgeries: cholecystectomy, appendectomy, and colectomy
• Orthopedic procedures: total hip, knee, and shoulder replacements, and trauma repairs
• Gastric sleeve procedures
• Diagnostic procedures: paracentesis and thoracentesis
• Heart catheterizations and related cardiac cases

Equipment and Systems

You will work with remote telemetry, capnography, Alaris IV pumps, glucometers, and dynamaps. The facility uses Alterra (Allscripts) as the electronic medical record system.

Required Qualifications

You must hold a current RN license, ACLS certification, BLS certification, and NIHS certification. Telemetry and medical surgical experience is required. Preferred skills include cardiac rhythm recognition, IV starts, and strong time management.

Scheduling and Flexibility

Weekend shifts are required with no on-call responsibilities. You will float as needed to inpatient rehab, ED, or PCU based on patient census, with assignments staying within your skill level.

The facility currently requires black scrubs and is transitioning to Medical City Blue uniform colors.
