PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Opportunity:

Registered Nurse - PCU

Job Details:

• Work in a progressive care unit focusing on cardiovascular patient monitoring
• 1:4 patient ratio maintained across all shifts
• 36-hour orientation provided
• Must be flexible with weekend requirements - work 50% of weekends in contract
• Required to float to different levels of care (Med-Surg, PCU, ICU) within facility and affiliate hospitals
• May be assigned charge nurse responsibilities with training and resources provided
• Teaching facility requiring agreement to precept students and allow shadowing
• Call-in policy requires makeup shifts or extension of contract
• 2 years of nursing experience required
• Trauma Level I experience required
• Required certifications: BCLS, ACLS preferred
• Skills required: Cardiac PCU, drips, post cath lab procedures, IV starts, sheath pulls
• Preferred skills: Conscious sedation and telemetry
• Care for patients with cardiovascular diagnoses including CHF, post-MI, cardiac arrhythmias, COPD
• Handle post-cath lab procedures, pre-LVAD placements, and pre-heart/lung transplants
• Work with cardiac drips, central line care, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Charting system experience with Cerner preferred
• First time travelers accepted
• Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
