Pediatric Respiratory Therapist Job in Charlottesville, VA

University of Virginia Medical Center is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist for a 13-week assignment in the Children's Hospital. You will work the night shift on a 3x12 schedule, with availability for either 36 or 48 hours per week. Every other weekend and holiday coverage is required.

About the Role

You will provide respiratory care across multiple pediatric units, including the NICU, PICU, high-risk deliveries, and acute care pediatrics. Your responsibilities include managing patients on specialized equipment such as the Bunnell Jet Ventilator and HFOV 3100A, charting in the Epic system, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. You will float within your scope of practice as needed across the facility.

Requirements

• Current RRT credential and Virginia state respiratory therapist license (pending license acceptable if temporary can be obtained before start)
• BLS, NRP, and PALS certifications required
• Level 4 NICU experience required; 1 year of respiratory therapy experience minimum
• Demonstrated competency with Bunnell Jet Ventilator and HFOV 3100A equipment
• Epic charting system experience
• Strong communication and critical thinking skills for team-based care
• References required for submission
• Current flu vaccination required with no exemptions

Preferred Qualifications

• Cardiac PICU experience
• ACCS certification
• BSN degree

This assignment uses a self-scheduling model with manager guidance during the staffing call. You will earn $2,306.88 weekly. The assignment runs 91 days and begins June 22, 2026.
