Physical Therapist Job in Bakersfield, CA

You will work as a Physical Therapist in an acute inpatient setting at Mercy Hospital Southwest - Bakersfield, treating approximately 12+ patients per day across Medical/Surgical, ICU, and Emergency Room areas.

Schedule and Shift Details

• 5 days per week, 8-hour shifts
• Primary schedule: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
• One day per week: 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM
• Every third weekend required, with Monday and Friday off on those weekends
• No holiday requirement
• Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment or 3 shifts for shorter assignments

Clinical Responsibilities

• Treat patients with general medical/deconditioning, total knee arthroplasty, total hip arthroplasty, spinal surgery, general orthopedic conditions, and cerebrovascular accidents
• Work in acute inpatient physical therapy across multiple departments
• Collaborate with one rehab aide available for coverage support
• Use Cerner charting system

Requirements

• Acute inpatient physical therapy experience required
• Current California PT license
• BLS (AHA) certification

• Department-specific orientation includes general hospital orientation plus training in each coverage area
