About this role

Santiam Memorial Hospital is seeking an RN for its Emergency Department in Stayton, OR. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning July 23, 2026, with 3x12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM). You will earn $2,462.40 weekly.

Role Overview

You will work in a Trauma Level 4 facility with 7 beds expanding to 14. The ED treats approximately 60 patients per 24-hour period, with roughly 20 traumas monthly due to the hospital's location in a recreational area. Common diagnoses include traumas, burns, car accidents, water rescues, surgical cases, orthopedic injuries, OB patients, and upper GI bleeds. This is not a STEMI receiving or stroke center.

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Manage nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4–5 for non-acute patients and 2:1 for resuscitations, depending on acuity
  • Administer common drips including heparin, pressors, and blood products
  • Perform and read EKG strips; nursing staff are responsible for all EKG interpretation
  • Perform the majority of IV starts and blood draws; phlebotomy is available as a resource
  • Triage patients as needed; triage experience is preferred
  • Troubleshoot respiratory therapy equipment; breathing treatments may occasionally fall to nursing

Scheduling & Operations

Every other weekend is required with holiday work as scheduled. There is no self-scheduling; your manager creates the schedule with block scheduling accommodated when possible. Historically, there is no call or standby requirement for travelers. The cancellation policy allows 3 shifts per 13-week contract. Charting is done in EPIC. Scrub color has no specific requirement; solid or prints are acceptable.

Orientation & Requirements

You will receive a 2-shift orientation with an RN during your first week. Required certifications include BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC, and PALS or ENPC (interchangeable). NRP is desired but may be obtained within 30 days of your start date; NIHSS may also be obtained within 30 days if needed. A BSN is not required. Smaller hospital experience and previous travel experience are preferred.
