PICU - Pediatric Intensive Care

Opportunity:

RN - PICU

Job Details:

• 12-hour shifts with variable scheduling including 2 weekend rotations per month
• Patient ratio of 1:2 on days, nights, and weekends
• Average daily census of 5 patients across 8 rooms/beds
• Care for patients across all pediatric age groups including neonates, infants, and adolescents
• Float to other pediatrics and NICU units as needed
• Must be willing to work 2 of 4 designated holiday periods annually: Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's
• 1 year of PICU experience accepted; open to first-time travelers
• Epic charting system experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS (AHA)
• Scrub color: royal blue
• Special equipment includes ventilators, Alaris IV pumps, cooling blankets, cardiac monitors, high-frequency oscillatory ventilators, PCA pumps, EEG monitoring, ICP monitoring, EVD systems, and BIS monitoring
• Provide care for patients with diagnoses including acute respiratory failure, severe pneumonia, bronchiolitis, status asthmaticus, ARDS, sepsis/septic shock, meningitis, congenital heart defects, congestive heart failure, cardiogenic shock, and status epilepticus
• Perform and assist with special procedures including mechanical ventilation, central/arterial line management, blood product administration, vasoactive medication titration, lumbar punctures, chest tube management, procedural sedation, PCA management, and therapeutic hypothermia
• Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, social services, and rapid response teams
