Medical Lab Technician Job in Austell, GA

You will work as a Medical Lab Technician in the Microbiology department at Cobb Hospital in Austell, Georgia. This is a day shift position running from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with an assignment duration of 91 days starting October 1, 2026. You will earn $1,864.80 per week.

In this role, you will perform laboratory tests under the general supervision of your Supervisor, Manager, or Laboratory Director. You are responsible for maintaining acceptable accuracy in patient testing, quality assurance, proficiency, and competency testing. You will analyze, investigate, interpret, and report laboratory data using your clinical and theoretical knowledge, recognizing relationships between lab data and clinical findings.

Your key responsibilities include:

• Comply with Pending Log procedures for tracking laboratory test status
• Document all elements of the Notification Value Call procedure in the LIS
• Meet department standards for correct patient and specimen identification
• Meet department-defined turn-around time and productivity standards
• Practice cost-efficient work processes while maintaining high quality laboratory data

You must have microbiology experience and Beaker LIS experience. A minimum of 1 year of laboratory experience is preferred. You will need an Associate's degree in Medical Technology or an equivalent certificate. Required certification upon hire includes MLT(AAB), MLT(AMT), MLT(ASCP), or MLT-P (provisional within 18 months).
