Pharmacy Technician Job in Pittsburgh, PA

ADEX Healthcare Staffing is seeking a Pharmacy Technician for a 90-day travel assignment at Southwest – UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. This role offers a structured schedule with 8-hour shifts, 5 days per week, and a weekly pay rate of $1,939. The position begins October 26, 2026.

Schedule & Expectations

• 8-hour shifts, 5 days per week with approximately 8 hours of rotating coverage
• Night shift follows a 7 on/7 off rotation
• Every 3rd weekend assignment required
• Flexibility available for night shift technicians to work alternative schedules as needed

Core Responsibilities

• Assist with sterile and nonsterile medication preparation, filling, and distribution
• Fill medication orders using correct labeling, counting, and stocking practices
• Prepare oral and injectable medications, including intravenous admixtures and total parenteral nutrition (TPN)
• Work in the Sterile Product area preparing cytotoxic and hazardous drugs, including chemotherapy, using proper aseptic technique
• Retrieve and return discontinued medications to appropriate pharmacy areas
• Assist in procurement, accountability, storage, preparation, and distribution of investigational and study drugs
• Communicate effectively with staff, patients, and visitors, referring all drug inquiries to pharmacists
• Ensure safe storage, handling, and dispensing of medications in compliance with federal and state regulations
• Maintain accurate patient records, documentation logs, and controlled substance audits
• Manage inventory across stock rooms, automated dispensing systems, crash carts, and emergency boxes
• Assist with training new personnel and students

Required Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited pharmacy technician program
• Minimum 2 years of experience
• PA State Board of Pharmacy Registration
• PA Act 31, PA Act 33, PA Act 34, and PA Act 73 clearances required
