Nuclear Medicine Technologist Job in Eden, NC

You will work as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist with the University of North Carolina Health Care System in Eden, NC. This is a contract position offering 24 hours per week, with an 8-hour shift structure. The assignment runs for 89 days, beginning September 28, 2026. Weekly pay is $2,556.

Your responsibilities include:

• Identify patients and confirm date of birth, hospital number, and identification prior to procedures
• Achieve venous access and administer radiopharmaceuticals according to physician orders
• Document the route of administration, dose, and your initials on all records
• Describe each exam to the patient, obtain informed consent, and complete necessary paperwork for study input
• Review requisitions, charts, and lab results; perform patient assessments as needed
• Confirm females of childbearing age are not pregnant and arrange pregnancy testing when ordered by the physician
• Perform advanced imaging duties including Positron Emission Technology (PET) imaging and lead technologist responsibilities as assigned
• Handle radiopharmaceutical receipt, documentation, and disposal according to Radiation Safety Office and NRC guidelines
• Select radiopharmaceuticals, verify dosage, and conduct quality control reviews to ensure correct dose, activity, and accurate record keeping
• Set up acquisition equipment and perform imaging according to protocol while maintaining patient comfort, care, and safety
• Analyze and evaluate images for correctness, process films, and submit to physician for approval
• Use RIS, CIS, SMS, and PACS systems to generate proper documentation and complete orders with accurate billing charges
• Coordinate transportation of inpatients to and from the Nuclear Medicine department using the transport tracking system
