Laboratory - Histology Tech

Job Details:

• Work Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM with no weekend shifts required
• 13-week travel assignment
• Prepare the grossing area and gross biopsy specimens
• Embed, section (cut), and stain tissue specimens for histological examination
• Prepare tissue specimens for routine and specialized histological procedures while ensuring laboratory quality standards are met
• Perform routine staining techniques and assist with special staining procedures as needed
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot histology laboratory equipment and instruments
• Perform quality assurance activities related to histological testing and procedures
• Maintain laboratory documentation and records in compliance with New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) regulations
• Adhere to established laboratory policies, safety standards, and approved protocols
• Current New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) Technologist License required
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Experience performing histological procedures including embedding, microtomy, staining, and tissue preparation required
• Knowledge of laboratory quality assurance practices and regulatory requirements required
• Required certifications: ASCP, NYSDOH License
• Epic charting system experience required
• Community hospital experience required
• Trauma Level II experience required
