About this role
CHI St Joseph Regional Health Care Center in Bryan, TX is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department. This is an 84-week travel assignment with a start date of July 13, 2026.
Position Details
- Schedule: 3x12 rotating shifts, typically starting between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM
- Every other weekend requirement with holiday rotation alongside core staff
- No on-call or standby obligations
- May float between Bryan and College Station campuses (16 minutes apart)
- Weekly pay: $1,965.60
Clinical Environment
You will work in a Level III Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center handling an average of 135 patients daily. Common presentations include chest pain, nausea and vomiting, fever, pediatric URI symptoms, geriatric altered mental status, and trauma including motor vehicle accidents, falls, gunshot wounds, and stabbings. You will manage drips such as Diltiazem, Cardene, Nitro, Propofol, Fentanyl, and Levophed.
Responsibilities and Skills
You must be comfortable with central line placement, massive transfusion protocol, chest tubes, trauma management, STEMIs, and stroke care. Nurse-to-patient ratios vary by acuity: 1:3–4 for general acute care, 1:1 or 2:1 for Level I traumas, 1:1 for TNK during the first hour, and 1:6–8 for vertical care. You will monitor your own telemetry and collaborate with respiratory therapy, available 24/7 in the ED.
Requirements
- Current RN license
- Minimum 2 years experience in a facility with similar patient volume, trauma level, and size
- ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, and TNCC certifications
- Must pass Advanced Dysrhythmia exam with 83% passing score before contract signing (three attempts allowed)
- Navy scrubs required; undershirts must be navy, and scrub jackets must be navy if worn
Systems and Support
The facility uses PulseCheck or Picis with MEDITECH charting. You will receive 3-shift orientation in the ED to familiarize yourself with protocols and workflows.
