Sterile Processing Technician Job in Waterloo, IA

UnityPoint - Allen Hospital in Waterloo, IA is seeking an experienced Sterile Processing Technician for a temporary assignment. You will work evenings on a 5x8 schedule for 91 days, beginning November 16, 2026.

Role Overview

As a Sterile Processing Technician, you will be responsible for preparing, sterilizing, and maintaining surgical instruments and equipment to meet strict safety and quality standards. Your work directly supports the surgical team and patient safety.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years (60 months) of Sterile Processing experience
• Minimum 24 months of current Sterile Processing experience reflected in work history
• HSPA (IAHCSMM) or CBSPD certification required
• Proficiency with SPM Instrument Tracking charting system
• Valid driver's license
• No first-time travelers considered

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional reference from a charge nurse, supervisor, nurse manager, director, CNO, or COO within the last 24 months

Schedule & Flexibility

You will work evenings with the option to pick up on-call shifts and weekend call as desired. You may be required to work 1–2 of 3 upcoming Winter holidays unless the unit is closed.

Compensation

Weekly pay is $1,340.
