RN - Cardiac PCU - Progressive Care Unit

Job Details:

• Work on a 40-bed Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit (CVPC) located on the E4 floor of the E Heart Tower
• Care for primary patient population including CV surgery and vascular surgery patients (open heart surgery, CABG, AVR, MVR, Bentall, TAVR), thoracic lung surgery (lobectomy, thoracotomy), esophagogastrectomy, AAA (open and endovascular), fem-pop bypass, and carotid endarterectomies
• Also receive overflow medical cardiology patients with diagnoses of heart failure, DKA, chest pain, sepsis, heart block, and more
• Patient ratio of 1:5 patients per RN
• Day and night shifts available with staffing including charge RN, 13 RNs, 4 PCTs, and HUC support
• Minimum 6 weekend shifts (Saturday/Sunday day or night) per 6-week schedule period required
• Flexible to work holidays
• No on-call requirements
• Perform epidural management, chest tube management, tube feedings, IV glucommander, and cardiac drip management (phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, ketamine)
• Utilize Baxter IV pumps, CADD epidural pumps, various lifts, and Cerner EMR
• Stepdown experience and telemetry experience required
• Prior CV surgery and vascular surgery population experience within the last year preferred (open heart, TAVR, lobectomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass)
• CVICU experience preferred
• Required certifications: ACLS and BLS
• Dress code: All navy, white tops/navy bottoms, or all white scrubs
• Floating may be required to any stepdown unit (1:5 ratios), medical-surgical unit (1:6-7 ratios), or ER inpatient holding area (1:6)
