Telemetry RN Job in Lafayette, LA

Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for a 56-week travel assignment on the Telemetry unit in Lafayette, Louisiana. You will work 3x12-hour night shifts at $2,172.60 per week.

Role Overview

You will provide direct patient care on a 24-bed telemetry unit with a 6:1 patient ratio. Your responsibilities include managing adult and geriatric patients with cardiac and complex medical conditions, performing dysrhythmia interpretation, and titrating cardiac medications including Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Nitroglycerin, Dopamine, and Heparin.

Clinical Responsibilities

• Care for patients with chest pain, CAD, PVD, arrhythmias, diabetes, COPD exacerbations, pneumonia, hypertension, MI, renal failure, pulmonary embolism, CHF, GI bleeds, and syncope
• Manage pre- and post-cardiac catheterization care, pacemaker and AICD procedures, ablations, and vascular surgeries
• Perform sheath removal at bedside and manage telemetry monitoring, chest tubes, PCAs, epidurals, and wound vacs
• Provide central, peripheral, and PICC line care; initiate IV starts; access ports; and manage wound care
• Administer blood products and manage complex clinical equipment

Requirements

• Current RN license (Compact or Louisiana)
• BLS, ACLS, and Telemetry certification
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
• Epic charting system experience preferred
• NURSYS report required within 4 weeks of submission
• Must reside more than 65 miles from the facility

Additional Information

You will receive 12 hours of orientation. Weekend coverage is required with every other holiday rotation. You may be pulled to other inpatient units as needed, and you must be willing to participate in Emergency Team assignments during facility emergencies. Block scheduling requests are not guaranteed.
