Respiratory Therapist Job in Weirton, WV

WVU Weirton Medical Center is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a 91-day travel assignment. You'll work 3 shifts per week on a 4-week rotation schedule, with night shifts from 6:30 PM to 6:30 AM or mid shifts from 2:15 PM to 10:45 PM. Every other weekend is required per your assigned rotation, and you may be included in holiday coverage on a 4-week rotating basis. There is no on-call or standby requirement.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Delivering an average of 90–100 treatments daily across multiple settings: inpatient Med/Surg, PCU, ICU, ER, Rehab, PACU, skilled nursing facility, Endoscopy, Cath Lab, sleep diagnostic services, and outpatient ABGs and 6-minute walks
• Performing breathing treatments, arterial blood gases, and capillary sticks for I-Stat analysis
• Managing respiratory equipment including Puritan Bennett 840 ventilators, BiPAP V60s, and High Flow Airvo 2s
• Assisting with intubations (independent intubation not required)
• Caring for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients (neonates seen in ER or Pediatrics only; no NICU)
• No EKG responsibilities

You will never be the only RT on shift. A Supervisor or Director is on-site Monday through Friday, with a Charge RT covering all other shifts. Charting is performed in Cerner. You'll receive 1–3 orientation shifts with a preceptor as needed.

Requirements:

• Current ACLS and BLS (AHA) certifications
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential via NBRC, or CRT (those grandfathered in by the WV Board of Respiratory are acceptable)
• Preferred: 3–4 years of experience, but first-time travelers will be considered
• Teal scrubs required; acceptable scrub pattern shirts permitted
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius; unexpired driver's license copy required at submission
• Any licensing hits must be disclosed at time of submission

Compensation: $2,229.12 per week. Assignment begins September 14, 2026.
