Job Details:

• Perform laboratory tests accurately and in a timely manner following established guidelines and physician orders
• Collect blood specimens from inpatients and outpatients via venipuncture and skin puncture according to physician orders
• Perform, record, and analyze quality control data to maintain accuracy and precision
• Maintain a safe and efficient working environment by performing equipment checks, cleaning work areas, and monitoring temperatures
• Recognize and troubleshoot malfunctions of advanced technological equipment and initiate corrective action
• Perform complex laboratory procedures, recognize deviations from expected results, and apply corrective measures using scientific principles
• Operate instruments using established protocols and quality control checks, including preventive and corrective maintenance
• Identify and resolve problems that may adversely affect test analyses and notify supervisors or director when appropriate
• Document corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from acceptable guidelines
• Evaluate new testing methodology and contribute to writing technical laboratory procedures
• Recommend process improvements for increased efficiencies
• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, a related science field, or equivalent experience required
• Certification by ASCP, NCA, or AMT preferred
• Knowledge of all areas in the laboratory required
• Knowledge of computerized document systems preferred
• Strong written and verbal communication skills required
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, rapidly changing, and regulated environment
