About this role

You will join University of Virginia Medical Center as a Registered Respiratory Therapist on a 13-week travel assignment. This position offers flexibility with availability for either 36 or 48 hours per week on night shifts, working 4x12-hour schedules. Weekly compensation is $3,075.84.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Provide respiratory care across the Children's Hospital, including NICU, PICU, high-risk deliveries, and acute care pediatrics units
  • Float within scope of practice as needed across facility departments
  • Manage patients with various respiratory conditions and assist in complex procedures
  • Operate specialized equipment including Bunnell Jet Ventilator and HFOV 3100A
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, applying strong communication and critical thinking skills

Requirements:

  • Current RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) certification
  • Minimum 1 year of respiratory therapy experience, with Level 4 NICU experience required
  • Virginia state license required; applicants with pending licenses may apply if a temporary license can be obtained before the May 11, 2026 start date
  • Current BLS and NRP certifications required
  • PALS and ACCS certifications preferred
  • Cardiac PICU experience preferred
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • Must have another state license to be eligible for temporary Virginia licensure

Schedule and Coverage:

  • Assignment duration: 91 days, beginning May 11, 2026
  • Every other weekend and every other holiday coverage required
  • Self-scheduling model with manager discussion during interview

You will provide direct patient care in a specialized pediatric setting, working with critically ill infants and children. This role requires competency with advanced ventilation technologies and the ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
