Emergency Room RN Job in Dubuque, IA

You'll work as a Registered Nurse in the 16-bed Emergency Department at UnityPoint – Finley Hospital in Dubuque, Iowa. This is a temporary position with a 91-day duration, starting July 13, 2026.

Shift and Schedule

You'll work three 12-hour night shifts per week on an every-third-weekend rotation. There are no on-call responsibilities. You're required to work one or two of the three upcoming summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day) unless the unit is closed.

The Role

You'll provide care to emergency and surgical patients in a fast-paced ED environment with a 3:1 patient-to-nurse ratio. Grey solid scrubs are required. The facility uses EPIC for its electronic medical record system.

Your Experience and Skills

• 24 months of Emergency Department experience required
• Drip and titration experience required, including cardiac drips, insulin, heparin, and all critical care and emergency medicine drips
• Telemetry measurement and reading experience required
• Emergency Room-specific skills checklist required

Credentials and Certifications

• Active Iowa nursing license or compact/multistate license required
• ACLS, BLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), and TNCC required
• NIH Stroke Scale (can be obtained during onboarding)
• Valid driver's license required
• Professional reference from a charge nurse, supervisor, nurse manager, director, CNO, or COO within 24 months preferred

Compensation
