NICU RN Job in Bismarck, ND

You will work as a Registered Nurse in the Level III NICU at CHI St Alexius Health Bismarck Medical Center. This 22-bed open concept unit serves neonates requiring intensive respiratory and hemodynamic support.

Schedule and Duration

• 3 x 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Every other weekend requirement
• 2 holiday shifts required per year
• 91-day travel assignment starting October 5, 2026
• Weekly pay: $2,255.04

Clinical Responsibilities

• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:2–3, up to 1:4 for feeder growers and stable patients
• Titrate drips including antibiotics, multivitamins, iron, surfactant, TPN, and epinephrine
• Manage patients on central lines and intubated patients
• Attend deliveries under 36 weeks gestation for APGAR scoring and resuscitation assistance
• Work with common NICU diagnoses: RDS, SGA, prematurity, hypoglycemia, hyperbilirubinemia, and IUGR
• Operate RT equipment including bubble CPAP and ventilators
• Float to newborn nursery and pediatrics as assigned
• First to float when needed within the unit

Staffing and Support

• Charge nurse present on each shift to assign patients
• Neonatologist coverage during day shift; NNP coverage overnight
• 2 shifts of unit-specific orientation provided

Requirements and Resources

• Active North Dakota nursing license required
• Current BLS and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certifications
• Minimum 2 years of NICU Level III–IV experience preferred
• BSN not required
• Charting via EPIC
• Hospital-provided scrubs
