About this role

You will administer ionizing radiation and radioactive substances to patients under the direct supervision of radiation oncologists at Albany Medical Center. This is a full-time travel position with a 91-day duration, beginning July 6, 2026.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Operate high-voltage radiation therapy equipment, including Varian Truebeam and Varian 21ix systems, with precision and safety
  • Accurately enter and maintain patient treatment parameters in the electronic medical record
  • Interpret computerized treatment plans and verify their accuracy before delivery
  • Monitor patients daily for adverse reactions and report findings immediately to radiation oncology staff
  • Troubleshoot technical equipment issues and facilitate problem-solving with clinical and engineering teams
  • Adhere strictly to NYSDOH, ARRT, and ACRO radiation safety protocols
  • Maintain professional conduct essential to patient care and safety in the radiation oncology setting

Required qualifications:

  • Allied Health Professional degree
  • Current ARRT certification (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
  • Completion of a formal training program in Radiation Therapy Technology from an AMA-approved school
  • New York State licensure as a Radiation Therapist (may be obtained during onboarding if you hold current ARRT certification)

This position replaces permanent staff. The shift is 5 days per week, 8 hours per day, with weekly compensation of $2,774. Candidates from ineligible counties will not be considered per Department of Health requirements effective January 11, 2024.
