PCU Registered Nurse Job in Roanoke, VA

You'll work as a Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA. This is a 91-day travel assignment starting June 29, 2026, with a weekly pay rate of $2,142.

Schedule & Expectations

• Work 3x12 hour night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM (4x12s available by request)
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week scheduling block
• Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
• Patient ratio of 1:4–5 (goal ratio 4:1, typically 5:1)
• Floating required within skillset to other PCUs and potentially medical-surgical units
• May work without CNA support

Required Credentials & Experience

• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• EPIC charting experience required
• Experience in telemetry, PCU, DOU, IMC, and stepdown settings
• Proficiency in cardiac monitoring, emergency response, dysrhythmia interpretation and management

Clinical Skills & Competencies

• Administer cardiac drips: Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, low-dose dopamine/dobutamine, Amiodarone, Nitro, Bumex, and Lasix (no titration)
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care
• Chest tubes, trach care, PICC line management, and medication administration
• Respiratory skills: nasal cannula, oxygen administration, CPAP, BiPAP, and non-invasive airway management

Orientation

Orientation includes 32 hours plus billable modules averaging 2–8.5 hours each. All time-off requests must be submitted with your application.
