Opportunity:
RN - PCU Stepdown
Job Details:
• 12-hour shifts available as either 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM (days) or 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM (nights)
• 3 shifts per week required with potential to schedule 4 shifts per week at regular rates upon discussion
• Every other weekend (EOW) required
• Days shift with first to float designation
• Provide acute care nursing for patients undergoing cardiovascular and surgical services
• Care for fast-paced cardiac and cardiac surgery patients including those from the cath lab, post-open heart surgery, STEMI and NSTEMI patients, chronic vents, alcohol withdrawal, suicidal ideation, new BiPAP or CPAP patients, thoracotomies, and renal disease patients
• Nurse to patient ratio of 1 RN to 3-4 PCU patients depending on acuity
• Float to ICU preferred; float to MS/Tele required
• Minimum 1 year of PCU experience required
• Required skills include EKG knowledge, IV cardiac medication administration, peritoneal dialysis, chronic vents, chest tubes, epidural catheters, PCA pumps, transvenous pacing, and arterial or venous sheath pulling and care
• Arterial lines and sheath pulls required when floating
• Required certifications: ACLS and BLS
• Active and in good standing Arizona nursing license required
• Must take and pass dysrhythmia exam with a minimum score of 80% within two attempts prior to signing contract
• Dress code: Navy scrubs and business appropriate hair color
• Equipment utilized includes Philips Cardiac Monitors, Telemetry, Welch Allyn Vital Signs Monitors, invasive monitoring, Medtronic Pacemakers, Cerner EMR, Pyxis medication dispenser, Zoll R Series, Sigma Spectrum IV pumps, and Mistral Air Warming units
• Cancellation policy: 4 shifts per contract; 3 shifts if contract is under 13 weeks
• BSN not required
