Histology Technician Job in Coos Bay, OR

Bay Area Hospital in Coos Bay, OR is seeking a Histology Technician for a rotating shift position. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning October 1, 2026, with weekly pay of $1,535.

Role Responsibilities:

• Prepare tissue samples for microscopic examination using tissue processors and embedding centers
• Operate automated stainers and cover slippers to prepare slides for pathologist review
• Use automated microtomes and cryostats to cut tissue sections
• Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment including analytic balances and microscopes
• Document specimen data in LIS and HIS computer systems
• Perform tissue floatation and other preparation techniques using volumetric glassware
• Lift and handle materials up to 40 lbs regularly

Required Qualifications:

• ASCP registry as Histology Technician or equivalent certification
• Current BLS certification
• Hands-on experience with LIS and HIS computer systems
• Demonstrated proficiency with tissue processor, embedding center, automatic stainer, and automated coverslipper
• Experience operating analytic balance, automated microtome, microwave, and microscope
• Experience with tissue floatation bath, volumetric glassware, cryostat, and recycler
• Less than 1 year of experience will be considered
