About this role

Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center is seeking a Medical Technologist (MT) for a temporary laboratory position in Windsor, VT. This is a 3x12 rotating shift role with a 91-day duration, beginning August 24, 2026. Weekly pay is $1,944.

Position Overview

You will work as an MT generalist, performing a full range of laboratory testing and specimen collection. You must be able to work independently within two weeks of your start date and collaborate effectively in a team setting. Your responsibilities will include phlebotomy, chemistry, hematology, blood bank, urinalysis, microbiology (Gram stains and culture plating), and specimen preparation for in-lab testing or off-site shipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Obtain blood specimens following correct order of draw based on tube type and special handling requirements
  • Collect and enter off-site blood work into the Cerner EMR system
  • Maintain knowledge of specific specimen requirements across all laboratory areas
  • Complete and process forms, obtain pre-authorization and patient signatures
  • Prepare specimens according to lab protocols
  • Ensure blood-drawing stations are clean and well stocked
  • Serve a patient population ranging from pediatric to geriatric

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of current Medical Technologist/MT/MLS experience
  • National Certification required (NCCT not accepted)
  • Current BLS (AHA) certification
  • Skills checklist for Medical Technologist and Phlebotomy, current within 1 year
  • Phlebotomy/venipuncture experience required
  • One supervisory signed reference from within the past two years of employment
  • Travel experience strongly preferred
  • Own vehicle required (no public transportation in the area)

Schedule and Logistics

You will work 3x12 rotating shifts with weekend and holiday rotation if scheduled. No on-call responsibilities. Block scheduling and schedule accommodations will not be considered. All requested time off must be noted and verified at upload; no more than 5 days of RTO will be accepted. Dress code allows personal scrubs of any color.
