PCU RN Job in Hilo, HI

Hilo Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Progressive Care Unit flex pool on night shift. You will work 12-hour shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM, scheduled for 36 hours per week following your first week of orientation. This is a float position with no guaranteed hours.

Your Role

You will float between various medical and surgical units, including the Medical Unit, Laulima Unit, and Cardiovascular Unit on rare occasions. Nurse-to-patient ratios vary by unit: Medical 1:8 for nights, Laulima 1:6, and Cardiovascular 1:4. You will work with Meditech EMR, Pyxis, wound vacs, and chest tubes.

Requirements

• Current Hawaii nursing license required by start of assignment
• 2–10 years of nursing experience
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Professional nursing attire—clean scrubs required

Preferred Qualifications

• PALS certification
• Procedural Sedation certification
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)

What to Expect

You will receive orientation for each unit. Please plan to arrive the Thursday before your start date for an employee health appointment scheduled for Friday. The assignment is 91 days, beginning July 13, 2026.

Weekly pay is $2,102.40.
