CVICU RN Job in Oklahoma City, OK

OU Health is seeking a registered nurse for the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) in Oklahoma City, OK. This position offers a 16-hour night shift on an 89-day travel assignment starting July 13, 2026.

Role Responsibilities

• Care for an assigned group of critically ill cardiovascular patients with complex medical needs
• Demonstrate proficiency with advanced cardiac support devices including Impella, intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP), continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO)
• Provide post-operative care for open-heart patients beginning day 2 of recovery
• Monitor and document patient physiological responses to nursing interventions and prescribed treatments
• Obtain and monitor vital signs and physiological data; intervene when necessary
• Note all changes in physician orders and communicate updates to the care team
• Assist physicians with patient examinations and minor diagnostic procedures and treatments
• Administer medications as prescribed by the physician
• Initiate, regulate, and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products
• Interact with patients and families to explain care plans during hospitalization and at discharge
• Inform patients and families of hospital procedures and expected outcomes
• Make appropriate referrals for patient care needs to specialized personnel
• Delegate tasks to nursing support staff as needed

Required Experience

• Demonstrated experience with Impella, IABP, CRRT, and ECMO support systems
• Knowledge of post-operative open-heart care protocols
• Strong assessment and critical-thinking skills in fast-paced intensive care settings
