Respiratory Therapist Job in Roanoke, VA

You'll work as a Registered Respiratory Therapist at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, a Level 1 Trauma Center with a high-volume emergency department. This is a 91-day travel assignment starting May 11, 2026.

Schedule & Compensation

• 3x12 hour night shifts (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
• $2,016 weekly pay
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block
• One holiday per 13-week contract

Your Role

You'll serve adolescents, adults, and geriatrics with a patient ratio of 1:25 in neurotrauma, cardiovascular services, and medical/surgical ICU settings. You'll manage critical care patients, perform airway management including extubations and tracheostomy care, interpret ABGs, and operate ventilators. Floating within your skillset is required, and you'll receive 36 hours of orientation.

Equipment & Experience

You'll work with specialized equipment including Servo I, Servo U, V-60 BiPAP, Optiflow heated high flow, iNO with iNOvent, and LTV1200. Experience with aerosol and medication delivery systems, oxygen therapy, nebulizer setups, and heated high-flow systems is expected. Prior experience with neurotrauma, cardiovascular services, and medical/surgical ICU patients is required.

Required Credentials & Licensing

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification by NBRC
• BLS and ACLS certifications
• Virginia licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner (other state licenses accepted with 90-day temporary authorization)
• EPIC charting experience

Candidate Profile

You must have critical care experience for a high-volume ER and Level 1 Trauma Center. First-time travelers are accepted; 1 year of travel experience is preferred. You must reside more than 100 miles from the facility.
