Opportunity:

RN - NICU

Job Details:

• 13 or 26 week contract options available with October start dates
• Night shift position working 36 or 48 hours per week
• Patient ratios: 1:2 days, 2-3 nights and weekends; 1:1 or 1:2 for ICU patients and 1:3 for stepdown patients
• Weekend coverage required - 3 weekends per 6-week scheduling period
• Must work 2 out of 3 winter holidays; time off around Christmas cannot be approved
• Maximum of 40 hours of pre-approved time off per 13-week contract; no additional time off approved after offer acceptance
• Time off cannot be approved during the first two weeks of assignment
• Required certifications: BLS (must be in hand at time of submission), NRP (must be in hand at time of submission), and Dr. Brown's Infant Driven Feeding Certificate (can submit with certification pending)
• Epic charting system experience required
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Full-time Level III NICU experience is required; floating experience does not fulfill this requirement; Level IV experience is highly preferred
• BSN preferred
• Must have strong experience with: High Frequency Vents, Conventional Ventilators, iNO, Trachs, NIPPV/NIMV, CPAP/BiPAP, IV fluid management including drips, hemodynamic support, post-op care, whole body cooling, admissions, IV placements, lab draws (heels and venous), wound/drain/line care, ostomy care, CVL dressing changes, IV fluid changes, titrating IV fluids, ABG interpretation, and medication calculations
• Must be able to assist with: intubation, lumbar puncture, PICC placement/dressing changes, umbilical line placement, and chest tube placement
• Proficiency required with: Central Line/Implanted Line Care, Colostomy/Ileostomy management, Dysrhythmia Interpretation/Management, IV vasopressors, Management of Chest Tubes, Neonatal Dosage Calculations, Nitric Oxide (iNO), Phlebotomy, Post Abdominal Surgery, Starting and Maintaining IVs, Therapeutic Hypothermia, UAC, UVC, and Ventilator Management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP)
• Special equipment includes: ECMO, Arctic Sun for whole body cooling of HIE patients, Drager Ventilators, HFOV/HFJV, and bCPAP
• Patient population includes neonates and infants with diagnoses including extreme prematurity (22 weeks and above), IUGR, RDS, BPD, TTN, PPHN, pneumonia, NEC, sepsis, all cardiac anomalies, neurologic, endocrine, renal, gastrointestinal, skeletal, and genetic anomalies, ROP, NAS, hypoglycemia, jaundice, and FTT
• Admits all infant cardiac patients prior to PICU transfer following open chest surgery
• Float required to: PICU, Pediatrics, Postpartum, and L&D (newborn catching and transitioning)
