PCU Registered Nurse Job in Omaha, NE

CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center – Bergan Mercy is seeking a Registered Nurse for a 91-day travel assignment in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU). You will work 3x12-hour night shifts from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM, with every other weekend required. Weekly compensation is $2,436.48, with an assignment start date of July 6, 2026.

Role Overview

You will deliver intermediate-level care in an 18-bed Cardiovascular Unit serving downgraded CVICU patients and those requiring progressive care monitoring. Patient assignments are 1:4, or 1:3 for post-surgical patients in the first 24 hours. You will manage patients with cardiac and vascular diagnoses including cath lab cases, CVA, CHF, and atrial fibrillation with RVR.

Clinical Responsibilities

• Titrate vasoactive and hemodynamic drips: amiodarone, nitroglycerin, nicardipine, epinephrine, cardizem, and blood pressure management medications
• Read and interpret telemetry strips
• Manage respiratory therapy equipment including BiPAP, CPAP, and nasal cannula
• Float to same-level and lower-acuity units as needed
• Chart in the EPIC system

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license
• Minimum 1 year of experience with this patient population
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Ability to read and interpret telemetry

Orientation and Compliance

You will receive 1–2 shifts of unit-specific orientation tailored to your experience level. You must pass an open-book examination on Friday during orientation with a minimum score of 90%. Navy blue scrubs are required. Artificial nails are prohibited; refusal to remove them will result in immediate contract termination.

Assignment Requirements

You must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility and cannot be employed by any CommonSpirit health system facility during this assignment.
