Opportunity:

Surgical Tech - Surgical Tech Cardiac

Job Details:

• 36 or 48 hours per week with day/evening/night (DEN) rotation
• Weekend, holiday, and on-call shifts required per unit need
• Care for a wide variety of cardiac patients including CABG, TAVI, and Heart Failure cases (VADs, ECMO, Artificial Heart, and Heart Transplants)
• Provide technical knowledge in preparing instruments, equipment, and supplies for surgical procedures
• Assist the surgical team from the scrub position during operations
• Responsible for proper care and handling of instruments and facilitating room turnover between cases
• Maintain sterile technique, safe handling of sharps, and performance of surgical counts per hospital policy
• Demonstrate proper handling of solutions and pharmacologic agents under direction of a registered nurse
• Must be able to scrub and circulate
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience in a cardiac operating room required
• NBSTSA Certification required, or experience as a Surgical Technologist within a healthcare facility for a cumulative period of one year or more occurring within the four years immediately prior to January 2015
• New York State Tech License required
• BLS Certification (American Heart Association only) required
• Operating room experience in a Level 1 Trauma center preferred
