About this role

You will work as a Registered Nurse on a Medical Surgical unit at Barnes-Jewish Hospital Nursing in Saint Louis, Missouri. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning July 20, 2026, with 4x12 night shifts paying $2,782.43 weekly.

Role Details

  • Work 36 or 48 hours per week with guaranteed hours
  • Patient ratios of 1:4–6
  • Float within the service line to meet facility needs
  • Every other weekend requirement; maximum 7 days of RTO per 13-week contract
  • No on-call responsibilities

Unit Overview

You will care for patients admitted from the Emergency Department, Operating Room, and ICU. The unit has 31 rooms and 63 beds, with a daily census of 50–55. You will serve adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients, including trauma cases (Level I), geriatric trauma (ages 55+), abuse and violence victims, motor vehicle accidents, and falls. Acute care surgical cases include appendicitis, gallbladder procedures, hernia repairs, fistulas, wounds, burns, and traumatic brain injury.

Clinical Skills & Competencies

  • Blood product administration, phlebotomy, and IV insertion
  • Peripheral line care and management; PCA administration
  • Insulin administration and wound care including wound vacs
  • CPAP/BiPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, and chest tube management
  • Spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injury, and orthopedic trauma
  • Peripheral nerve block catheters and total joint replacements
  • Surgical drain management and external fixators

Requirements & Certifications

  • Current RN license
  • 5 years of nursing experience required
  • Travel experience required
  • Level I trauma experience required
  • BCLS and ACLS certifications
  • Must pass Relias EKG exam with interpretation and management of dysrhythmias

Additional Information

Navy blue scrubs are required. The unit uses EPIC charting. You will work with specialized equipment including patient lifts, restraints, wound vacs, traction systems, and external fixators.
