Phlebotomist - Phlebotomist / Laboratory

Job Details:

• Position may work primarily in the Emergency Department
• Every other weekend required
• Serves patients across all age groups including neonates, infants, adolescents, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Travel experience required
• CPT I certification required
• Valid California state license/certification required
• EPIC experience highly preferred
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Trauma Level I and Level II experience preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Proficient in aseptic technique, blood cultures, heel sticks, venipuncture, and specimen processing
• Experience with various blood collection tubes including light blue, purple, green, gray, and red top tubes required
• Ability to prioritize patient collections based on order request type (stat, timed, routine)
• Skilled in processing specimens for laboratory including centrifuge, aliquot, and storage
• Knowledge of standard precautions, transmission-based precautions, and proper specimen disposal and labeling required
• Experience with syringe method, vacutainer method, and vacutainer holder required
• Understanding of mode of action of additives and anticoagulants in blood collection tubes required
