PCU RN Job in Rochester, NY

ADEX Healthcare Staffing is seeking an experienced RN for a 12-hour shift position in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at URMC Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY. This is an 89-day assignment starting May 11, 2026, with a weekly pay of $2,393.82.

Role Overview

You will provide direct patient care in a high-acuity stepdown setting focused on stroke and neurosurgery patients. You will work a rotating day/evening/night schedule including weekends and holidays. Responsibilities include on-call, callback, and charge nurse duties as needed by the unit. You may also take on expanded roles including preceptor and committee member responsibilities.

Required Qualifications

• Current New York RN license (NY licenses only)
• Minimum two years of nursing experience
• Stepdown/PCU experience (required)
• High acuity stroke and neurosurgery experience (required)
• Telemetry experience (required)
• BLS certification from American Heart Association
• Hands-on experience with neuro assessment protocols, including Q1 neuro checks, EVDs, lumbar drains, and subdural drains
• Experience with specialized drips including 3% normal saline and cardene, as well as arterial line management

Preferred Qualifications

• ACLS certification from American Heart Association
• NIHSS certification

Clinical Experience

You should be familiar with common neurosurgical procedures including carotid endarterectomy, aneurysm coil and clip placement, deep brain stimulator insertion, VP shunt placement, and seizure management protocols.

You will provide competent, standards-based care under the direction of the nurse manager. This role is ideal for an experienced ICU stepdown nurse seeking a travel assignment in a specialized neurosurgical setting.
