Vascular Sonography Ultrasound Tech Job in Hilo, HI

Hilo Medical Center is seeking an Allied Health Professional Ultrasound Technician specializing in vascular sonography. This is a 91-day travel contract beginning August 10, 2026, with rotating shifts and on-call responsibilities as appropriate.

Role Overview

You will perform comprehensive ultrasound imaging across multiple specialty areas within an acute hospital setting. You will work 40-hour shifts, float to other units and departments as needed, and maintain competence to proficiency in the following imaging domains:

• Abdominal imaging: aorta, IVC, liver/biliary, pancreas, spleen, and renal pathology
• Gynecological imaging: breast, ovaries, adnexa, uterus, and pelvis (normal, post-menopausal, and transvaginal)
• Obstetric imaging: first, second, and third trimester, amniocentesis, biophysical profile, gestational age assessment, placental grading, IUGR, and fetal abnormalities
• Vascular imaging: carotid duplex, segmental pressure studies, and upper and lower extremity venous and arterial duplex
• Superficial structures: abdominal wall, breast, focal masses, hematoma, scrotum/testes, and thyroid
• Neonatal imaging: congenital anomalies and neonatal head
• Procedural support: aspirations, biopsies, drainage, and intraoperative imaging

Requirements

• Minimum three years of experience in an acute hospital setting as a full-time sonographer
• One or more prior travel contracts
• Current ARDMS certifications: AB (Abdomen), OB (Obstetrics), and RVT (Registered Vascular Technologist)
• Active BLS certification (AHA certified)
• Competency with Canon i700 ultrasound systems, Meditech EMR, and Fuji Synapse PACS
• Professional healthcare attire and personal scrubs required

Compensation

Weekly pay is $2,628. This position offers rotating shifts in a dynamic acute care environment at an established medical center.
