PACU RN Job in Hilo, HI

Hilo Medical Center is seeking a registered nurse for the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). You will provide direct patient care across pre-operative, Phase I, and Phase II recovery settings, working with patients as they transition from anesthesia and surgery.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Assess incision sites, monitor body temperature, and track vital signs and other indicators of patient stability or complications
• Demonstrate advanced knowledge of anesthesiology and patient care during Phase I recovery
• Apply critical care skills to monitor and support post-surgical patients
• Respond to on-call shifts 0–3 times per month, including 8-hour night shifts and 24-hour weekend or holiday on-call

Schedule and shift structure: Shifts vary between 8, 10, and 12 hours and can be days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Please note that shifts may vary between ASU and PACU units, and there is no guarantee of hours or shift preference.

Required qualifications:

• Current RN license in Hawaii, active by assignment start date
• Valid BLS and ACLS certification from the American Heart Association
• 2+ years of critical care experience as an RN in a hospital setting (ER or ICU experience may substitute for direct PACU experience)

Preferred qualifications:

• PALS credential from the American Heart Association (may be required)
• Specialty-related certifications such as NIHSS and TNCC

Equipment you will work with: Meditech, PCA pumps, Pyxis, Braun IV pumps, Cryocuff, sequential compression devices, Bair PAWS warmers, HP monitors, and Phillips monitors.

Assignment details: 91-day travel assignment beginning August 24, 2026. Weekly pay is $2,181.24.
