MICU Registered Nurse Job in Charlottesville, VA

Opportunity:

Job Details:

• Night shift position with the option of 36 or 48 hours per week
• 13-week contract
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Up to 40 hours of time off available per 13-week contract; no back-to-back weekends off approved
• Care for adult patients with complex, multi-system failure and co-morbid conditions including sepsis, pneumonia, GI bleed, and organ failure
• Work across a 28-bed ICU spanning two units (16 beds on MICU3 and 12 beds on MICU4)
• Perform and assist with special procedures including percutaneous trachs, CVC placements, arterial lines, CRRT, SLED, PA catheters, chest tubes, thoracentesis, paracentesis, PEG placements, intubation, conscious sedation, and diagnostic patient transport
• Operate special equipment including Accu-check/Glucommander, ABGs/point of care testing, and ventilators
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary support teams including physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
• Must float within scope of practice within the facility
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Travel nursing experience required
• Level I Trauma experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• BSN preferred
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, CCRN
• Virginia nursing license required; pending license accepted at submission but must be in-hand by the Wednesday before start date
