Respiratory Therapist - Registered Respiratory Therapist

Job Details:

• Provide cardiopulmonary care services in accordance with physician orders and department policies and procedures
• Perform accurate and complete respiratory assessments of patients including initial screenings, pain assessments, and reassessments
• Determine treatment requirements including type, method, duration of therapy, precautions, and medication dosages
• Monitor patient physiological responses to therapy including vital signs, arterial blood gases, and blood chemistry changes
• Prepare and administer medications based on age and clinical condition of the patient
• Conduct tests such as holter monitoring, cardiac monitoring, and lung capacity tests to evaluate cardiopulmonary functions
• Formulate teaching plans based on identified learning needs including patient and family education on pain management and discharge planning
• Maintain and calibrate respiratory care equipment and complete routine daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning
• Complete accurate and timely documentation in both electronic and chart form
• Utilize established hand-off communication protocols to ensure patient safety
• Minimum 1 year of respiratory therapy experience preferred
• Strong computer skills with ability to navigate EMR programs required
• Ability to work independently, prioritize, and complete tasks in a timely manner
• Excellent communication and customer service skills required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, PALS
• Current Illinois Respiratory Therapist License required
