Pharmacy Tech - Pharmacy Tech

Job Details:

• Assist pharmacist in maintaining pharmacy drug distribution system with focus on quality, accuracy, patient care, and customer service
• Fill and deliver medication carts accurately and timely (40% of role)
• Manage Pyxis Inventory including selecting and loading medications and controlled substances (20% of role)
• Ensure timely delivery of medications to patient care areas with hourly deliveries per hospital policy (10% of role)
• Assist in department inventory management and maintain organization in pharmacy storeroom (10% of role)
• Perform monthly nursing unit inspections for quality assurance and communicate problems to supervisor (10% of role)
• Prepare medications under pharmacist oversight including IV medications with proper expiration dating (10% of role)
• Print/reprint fill lists, catch up reports, and labels as necessary
• Perform cart exchanges per hospital policy to ensure nurse access to patient medications
• Organize medications according to ISMP safety initiatives
• Dispose of pharmaceutical waste in appropriate containers
• Check deliveries against invoices and perform barcode checks on all items
• Monitor temperature logs for refrigerators and warmers containing medication
• Repackage unit dose medications using PakEDGE software and repackaging equipment
• Work in acute care setting using EPIC charting system
• Prior hospital pharmacy or healthcare environment experience preferred
• Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) Certification or Pharmacy Intern License preferred
• BLS Certification required
• No call off policy with 14 days written cancellation notice required
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required for exceptional customer service
