PCU - Progressive Care Unit

RN - PCU Stepdown

Job Details:

• 12-hour shifts available on both days (6:30 AM - 6:30 PM) and nights (6:30 PM - 6:30 AM)
• Every other weekend requirement
• Minimum of 2 holidays required within the contract time frame
• 40-bed PCU unit with an average daily census of 24
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5 on both days and nights
• Nurse aide/patient care tech support available at a 1:12 ratio
• Common patient diagnoses include cardiac med/surg, dialysis, cancer, vascular, sepsis, adult respiratory, stroke, post stent, post pacer placement, and renal failure
• Required to titrate drips including Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and insulin
• Must be competent with arterial lines
• Required to read and interpret telemetry strips independently
• High flow respiratory equipment used on unit
• Charge nurse present on each shift and takes an assignment
• Floating required to MedSurg or ICU for PCU acuity patients
• Charting system: EPIC
• 1 day of unit/department-specific orientation provided
• Pass/fail open book exam during orientation - must score 90% or higher to pass
• If placed on call and called back in, must be able to arrive within 30 minutes
• Scrub color: Navy Blue
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments
• Driver's license required at submittal
• BSN not required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• RTO requests of 7 days or fewer must be submitted upfront; additional RTO will not be approved
• Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment or 3 shifts for assignments shorter than 13 weeks
