Certified Surgical Technologist Job in Herrin, IL

Herrin Hospital is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist to join our operating room team. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning September 21, 2026, offering you the opportunity to expand your surgical tech experience in a dynamic healthcare setting.

Position Details

• 4x10 rotating schedule: 10-hour shifts from 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM, 4 days per week
• Rotating day off throughout the week
• On-call requirements: 1 weeknight and 2 weekend days per month
• Weekly pay: $2,452.80

Your Responsibilities

• Prepare patients and operating rooms for planned surgical procedures
• Open and arrange sterile supplies and instruments for each case
• Perform skin preparation and draping according to protocol
• Assist the surgeon with gowning and gloving
• Pass instruments, sutures, and supplies to the surgical team as needed
• Maintain accurate counts of instruments, sutures, and sponges throughout procedures
• Apply dressings and bandages post-procedure
• Identify, collect, and care for specimens according to facility standards
• Decontaminate instruments, equipment, and supplies following established policies
• Assist with patient and equipment positioning and transportation
• Support efficient operating room turnover between cases
• Monitor and restock supplies to maintain readiness

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Certified Surgical Technologist credential (must have passed the NBSTSA or NCCT exam)
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Minimum 6 months of technical experience or specialized training
