Med Surg RN Job in West Des Moines, IA

UnityPoint - Methodist West Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for its 30-bed Med Surg unit focused on post-operative and spine care patients. This is a night shift position on a 4x12 schedule.

Position Details

• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6 on nights
• Every third weekend required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Required to float across all campuses, including Iowa Methodist Medical Center and Iowa Lutheran

Clinical Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to post-operative and spine surgery patients
• Administer heparin drips; strong heparin experience required
• Document in EPIC (EMR experience required)
• Wear navy blue solid scrubs

Requirements

• 24 months of med surg or medical surgical experience in a hospital or medical center setting
• Post-operative or surgical experience required
• Spine care experience required
• Minimum 3 months of current travel nursing experience within the previous 12 months (no first-time travelers)
• Active Iowa nursing license or compact/multistate license
• BLS certification (AHA)
• Professional reference from a charge nurse, supervisor, nurse manager, director, CNO, or COO within the past 24 months preferred
