Med Surg RN Job in Artesia, NM

You will work as a Registered Nurse on a 26-bed Medical-Surgical inpatient unit at Artesia General Hospital. This is a 91-day travel assignment beginning June 30, 2026, with a weekly pay of $2,452.

Schedule & Expectations

• Three 12-hour shifts per week, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• Every other weekend requirement
• May be asked to participate in holiday rotation
• No on-call or standby requirement
• No floating requirements
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3–5
• Scheduling is not guaranteed as block scheduling; you will be asked to be flexible to help fill gaps in permanent staff schedules

Clinical Skills & Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of Med-Surg or Telemetry experience
• PCU or Step-Down experience preferred
• LTAC experience is a plus
• Must read and interpret telemetry strips using Mindray cardiac monitors
• Must titrate drips including insulin, amiodarone, and levofed; multiple drip protocols in use
• Ability to maintain intubation preferred
• Responsible for AccuChecks

Unit Environment

• No ICU on site; high-acuity patients are transferred to higher-level facilities
• Nurses may be called upon to work in PCU depending on competency
• Respiratory therapy available in-house 24/7
• Unit manages all respiratory equipment including continuous BiPAP/CPAP
• Nurse aides available at a 1:8 ratio to assist with vitals, ADLs, I/Os, patient transfers, transports, and showers
• Travelers are not typically asked to step into a charge nurse role

Logistics

• 1–2 days of unit orientation with a preceptor provided
• Charting system: TruBridge – Evident (CPSI)
• Scrub color requirement: Navy Blue
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS
• BSN not required
